COMMENCEMENT DATES – 2015/2016 ACADEMIC YEAR - For Continuing Students

1. COMMENCEMENT DATES – 2015/2016 ACADEMIC YEAR

The University of Nairobi wishes to inform the following groups of students (Module I and integrated Module II) (Continuing students) that the commencement dates for the 2015/2016 academic year are as follows:

MONDAY, 7TH SEPTEMBER, 2015

(i)    2nd and 4th years in the Faculties of Agriculture, Veterinary Medicine; Schools of The Built Environment, Arts & Design, Engineering, Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Biological Sciences, Computing & Informatics, Education.

(ii)    4th years in the Faculty of Arts, Schools of Business, Law, Economics and I.A.G.A.S.

(iii)    2nd years in the College of Health Sciences.

(iv)    5th and 6th years in the Department of Architecture and Building Science.

(v)    5th years in the School of Engineering and Faculty of Veterinary Medicine

(vi)    4th years in Biochemistry and Medical Lab. Technology

Note:    Reporting dates for the 4th years in Dental Science, Pharmacy, Nursing, M.B.Ch.B. and level V (M.B.Ch.B.) will be announced later.

Commencement Dates– 2015/2016 Academic Year - First Year Students

1. COMMENCEMENT DATES – 2015/2016 ACADEMIC YEAR
The University of Nairobi wishes to inform all first year (2014 K.C.S.E.) students (fresher) that the commencement date for the 2015/2016 academic year is 14th September, 2015.
2.    TUITION FEES
(i)    ALL STUDENTS except Diploma students, shall each pay tuition Fees of Kshs. 16,000/= per year, before or on the registration day, made up as follows:
(a)    Kshs. 8,000/- Direct Charge for which needy students may apply for Bursary from Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)
(b)    Kshs. 8,000/- for which one may pay direct or apply for a loan from HELB.
(ii)    Diploma students shall pay Kshs. 86,000/- plus all other additional related expenses payable by the first years.
3.    OTHER ADDITIONAL RELATED EXPENSES
    FIRST YEARS (FRESHERS)
    Computer Laboratory fees         -    3000/- p.a.
    Caution Money                           -    2000/- (once)
    Examination fees                       -    3000/- p.a.
    Medical fees                               -    2000/- p.a.
    Activity fees                                -   1000/- p.a.

    ID Card                                       -    500/- p.a.

University of Nairobi Shines in Global Research Citation Ranking

The University of Nairobi has emerged top five in the African Universities and Higher institutions Ranking 2015.

The ranking conducted by JournalsConsortium placed the University of Nairobi at an outstanding position four in Africa. The top position was taken by the University of Cape Town while the second and third positions were taken by Cairo University and the University of Pretoria respectively.

The ranking by JournalsConsortium was based on research publications and citations from the last five years (2010 to 2014) as well as visibility on the internet.  The University of Nairobi garnered an impact score of 38.8 on research publications and citations, 4.01 on Internet/Web presence and a total influence factor of 42.81.

In East Africa, Makerere University emerged position 11 while locally, Kenyatta University and Moi University were ranked at positions 28 and 47 respectively.
