Final payment of CBA 2013-2017 arrears

I am pleased to inform all staff that the final payment of CBA 2013-2017 Arrears was remitted to the University’s main bank account for onward transmission to individual staff accounts yesterday July 24, 2017.
 
There are staff who have raised concerns regarding the final payment and I wish to inform all those with issues to get in touch with Mr. David Chege – Finance Department for clarification.
 
Meanwhile, I have asked the Implementation Committee which consists of members of three (3) Unions to work with the Finance Technical team to ensure that all CBA arrears are correctly paid out.

Closure of the University of Nairobi during the general election period

This is to inform all staff that the University of Nairobi will close with effect from August 4, 2017 up to and including August 18, 2017 during the electioneering period. It should, however, be noted that:
 
i) The Vice-Chancellor's Office will remain open.
ii) Essential services that normally run during weekends and public holidays will be maintained.
iii) Mail Registry at the Main Campus will remain open from 8.30 a.m. to 12.00 noon.
iv) Out-patient treatment at the University Health Services will be available throughout the above period to cater for emergency cases.
v) Telephone services in all campuses will be operated by a few staff during the period in question.
 
The closure will allow staff to participate in the election process more conveniently and peacefully.
 
I wish you well and urge you to maintain peace during this time.

Payment of 2013/2017 CBA salary and house allowance arrears

This is to inform you that we have received this afternoon of 6th July 2017, the approved 2017/2018 rationalized budget from the National Treasury.
 
Consequently, we have released 47.75% of the 2013/2017 CBA Basic Salary and House Allowance arrears to the bank for onward transmission to staff individual bank accounts.  The remaining percentage of the arrears will be paid to you upon receipt from the Government.
 
I wish to thank all the staff for their patience and understanding when payment approval was being sought.
