58th Graduation Ceremony – Friday December 22, 2017

COLLEGE OF HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES AND COLLEGE OF HEALTH SCIENCES
 
The University of Nairobi wishes to inform all those students from the above Colleges who qualified for the award of various degrees and diplomas at the end of the 2016/2017 academic year and members of the public, that the 58th Graduation Ceremony will be held on Friday, December 22, 2017 commencing at 7.30 a.m. at the Chancellor’s Court next to Central Catering Unit, Main Campus.  The following is pertinent information:
 
CLEARANCE OF FEES AND CONFIRMATION OF NAMES
 
It is the duty and responsibility of each graduand to confirm his/her examination results and the accuracy and order of names from the respective Dean/Director.  Prospective graduands are informed that those who will not have met all the requirements for graduation including clearance of fees and other levies by December 1, 2017 will not be included in the graduation list.
 
Note:  Graduands are not expected to introduce new names other than those used during admission to the University.
 
GRADUATION/CONVOCATION FEE
 
Each graduand must obtain a clearance certificate from the relevant College Registrar upon clearance with the respective Department/Faculty/School/Institute/Centre, Library, Halls of Residence, Games Department  and Finance and pay a compulsory Graduation/Convocation fee of Kshs. 1,000/=.  PhD graduands should pay the convocation fees at their respective colleges.
 
 
HIRE OR PURCHASE OF ACADEMIC DRESS
 
The academic attire will be available for hire between Monday, December 11, 2017 to Thursday, December 21, 2017 from the respective College Registrars for Diploma, Bachelors, PGD and Masters programmes and from the Deputy Registrar, Central Examinations Centre for PhD graduands at a non-refundable fee of Kshs. 3,000/=.  Those intending to purchase the dress should contact the Deputy Registrar, Central Examinations Centre, Chiromo Campus for details.  The hired Academic dress must be returned to the respective offices by Friday, January 5, 2018 to avoid being surcharged.

REHEARSAL
 
The rehearsal is an integral part of the Graduation Ceremony.  All Graduands intending to participate in the ceremony must attend the rehearsal on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at 10.00 a.m. at the Chancellor’s Court next to the Central Catering Unit.
 
During the rehearsal all Graduands must be attired in their gowns.
 
INVITATION CARDS
 
(i)  While hiring or purchasing the Academic Dress, each graduand will be given two invitation cards for two guests.  Persons
      without invitation cards will not be allowed into the Chancellor’s Court on the Graduation Day. 
      Children are not allowed.
(ii)  Kindly visit your student portal for full details on information on the 58th graduation ceremony.
 
PUNCTUALITY
 
Graduands and invited guests are advised to arrive early on the Graduation day and be seated by 7.00 a.m.
