Welcome to the Department of Civil and Construction Engineering at UoN. The links of this website are intended to present you with general information on our vision, mission, undergraduate and graduate programs, research activities, facilities, and the special programs available to you only in this department.

Our mission is to educate individuals to become the leaders of the profession. Our undergraduate program showcases several disciplines within civil engineering and provides our students with a sound and broad education that prepares them for professional practice.

The program emphasizes interdisciplinary team work, communication skills, tools and skills for professional practice, and lifelong learning. We strive to ensure that our graduates understand professional ethics and the value of service to their profession and society through involvement in community, state, and national organizations.

We offer a distinguished program of graduate study and creative research in selected areas of civil, highways and transportation, structures, and environmental engineering. Active research programs in these areas are geared towards improving the scientific and technological basis for civil, construction, and environmental engineering practice. Our research programs cross the boundaries of the School of Engineering as well as providing multidisciplinary collaborative research with faculties in other Schools of the UoN.

We pride ourselves in the varied research initiatives and special programs residing in the department. The Department's Transportation team is currently spearheading the monitoring and evaluation of the Northern Corridor Transport Improvement Project. The water group is hosting the Flood Management Research Cluster for the Nile Basin Capacity Building Network Program for River Engineering (NBCBN-RE)

Finally, I would like to invite you to browse through our website and to feel free to contact me with any questions or additional information that you may desire. We appreciate your interest, look forward to your involvement with us, and certainly do hope to meet you.
