1. COMMENCEMENT DATES – 2015/2016 ACADEMIC YEAR
The University of Nairobi wishes to inform all first year (2014 K.C.S.E.) students (fresher) that the commencement date for the 2015/2016 academic year is 14th September, 2015.
2.    TUITION FEES
(i)    ALL STUDENTS except Diploma students, shall each pay tuition Fees of Kshs. 16,000/= per year, before or on the registration day, made up as follows:
(a)    Kshs. 8,000/- Direct Charge for which needy students may apply for Bursary from Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)
(b)    Kshs. 8,000/- for which one may pay direct or apply for a loan from HELB.
(ii)    Diploma students shall pay Kshs. 86,000/- plus all other additional related expenses payable by the first years.
3.    OTHER ADDITIONAL RELATED EXPENSES

    Computer Laboratory fees         -    3000/- p.a.
    Caution Money                           -    2000/- (once)
    Examination fees                       -    3000/- p.a.
    Medical fees                               -    2000/- p.a.

University of Nairobi Shines in Global Research Citation Ranking

The University of Nairobi has emerged top five in the African Universities and Higher institutions Ranking 2015.

The ranking conducted by JournalsConsortium placed the University of Nairobi at an outstanding position four in Africa. The top position was taken by the University of Cape Town while the second and third positions were taken by Cairo University and the University of Pretoria respectively.

The ranking by JournalsConsortium was based on research publications and citations from the last five years (2010 to 2014) as well as visibility on the internet.  The University of Nairobi garnered an impact score of 38.8 on research publications and citations, 4.01 on Internet/Web presence and a total influence factor of 42.81.

In East Africa, Makerere University emerged position 11 while locally, Kenyatta University and Moi University were ranked at positions 28 and 47 respectively.

CALL FOR STARTUP - Africa Technology & Innovation Accelerator (AfTIA)

During the Nairobi Innovation Week, the Chancellor of the University of Nairobi launched Africa Technology & Innovation Accelerator (AfTIA), a program that will enable C4DLab, the innovation lab of the University to incubate and accelerate startups and facilitate commercialization of innovations.
 
Though C4DLab has been incubating startups for a while now, we officially invite the first cohort of startups to submit their applications under the umbrella of AfTIA. Applicants  with prototypes in any of the following domains are welcome to submit for consideration:

The criteria for consideration and admission:
  1. Innovation by all staff and students of the University of Nairobi as well as external applicants, are eligible. 
  2. The applicant must have registered their innovation with relevant regulatory agencies. 
  3. The innovation must not be incubated in another incubator at the same time. 
  4. The applicant must provide proof of ownership of the innovation. 
  5. Innovation must be original and authentic. 
  6. Innovation must have a demonstrated potential for commercialization. 
  7. Innovation must be relevant to Kenya’s development agenda.

Registration will commence at 8.00 am and all students are therefore advised to register at their respective centers as per the joining instructions.

you can use it to apply for HELB loans and  limitted University accomodation at smis.uonbi.ac.ke which is done online through the portal. 
Fees should be paid to your respective college account and accomodation fees should be paid to SWA account.

C4DLab- CCNA September intake

C4DLab an innovation hub at the University of Nairobi, which was approved as a CISCO Networking Academy to support advance CISCO networking technologies to the University Community recently acquired state of the art Cisco equipment bundle for hands-on training.
 
This course is aimed at teaching students how to design, build, troubleshoot and secure computer networks for increased access to career and economic opportunities around the world.
 
CCNA gives thorough hands-on experience to IT Technician, deport technician, remote support technician, network analyst, network auditors, network technician, help desk technicians, support engineers, system engineers, network operations engineers and many more.
 
We are currently accepting applications for CCNA 1 training September intake.

Gandhi Smarak Nidhi Fund - Postgraduate Scholarships: 2015/2016 Academic Year

The Gandhi Smarak Nidhi fund will offer a limited number of partial scholarships tenable at the University of Nairobi, for Masters Programmes during the 2015/2016 academic year.
 
Interested candidates are invited to apply for the scholarship by filling in a formal application/re-application form available at the  Central Examinations Centre, Chiromo Campus from Monday July 20, 2015 upon payment of a non-refundable application fees of Kenya Shillings Two Thousand Only (KShs. 2,000.00) through MPESA pay bill services. The MPESA payment details are: -
  • BUSINESS NUMBER: 913901
  • ACCOUNT NUMBER:  Serial number on the application form
 
Applicants must have attained at least an Upper Second Class Honours or its equivalent at Bachelors Level and must attach to the completed application form a letter of offer (Notice of eligibility) to study at the University of Nairobi for a Masters programme (not PhD).
 
Completed application forms may be send to the Secretary, Gandhi Smarak Nidhi Fund, University of Nairobi, P. O. Box 30197 – 00100 G.P.O. Nairobi, or delivered to the Central Examination Centre, Chiromo Campus so as to reach by Friday July 31, 2015.
