Nyantika Joshua Mokua, a second year student at the School of Physical Sciences has made it to the final 120 in the race for the World Merit’s Ambassador. Nyantika beat over 60,000 other applicants to make it to the second round of the tightly contested opportunity.

World Merit is a global platform that recognizes the efforts of young people between the ages of 18 and 30, and seeks to reward them. This is achieved by requesting them to share their ideas, dreams and visions on an online platform. Through this, young people are exposed to opportunities which expose them to funding opportunities and exposure to the world. The areas of interest are entrepreneurship, culture, politics, media, science and technology and business leadership.

Each year, World Merit has an ambassador who goes around the world working on social projects, meeting world leaders and inspiring the next generation by spreading word of the numerous opportunities that are there for the determined, by sharing their visions on World Merit. The tenure for the ambassador expires after one year, and a new one is appointed through a challenge known as ‘Your Big Year.'

Out of the 120, only 12 contestants will make it to the finals which will be held in Liverpool, UK in November 2013.

The University congratulates Nyantika on this achievement and wishes him well.
