Scholarships: Chinese Ambassador Scholarships

Applications are invited from needy undergraduate students for the Chinese Ambassador Scholarships. Applicants should meet the following criteria;
  1. Registered needy students.
  1. Excellent academic record.
  1. Individual of impeccable character.
  1. Non-beneficiary of any other scholarship in the previous  and current academic year.
  1. Regular student of the University of Nairobi.
Applications should be accompanied by an application form, copies of the national and university identity cards, certified death certificates (where applicable) and an academic transcript.
The application form is here-in attached and can also be accessed at  and be handed at the Office of the Special Student Advisor by Friday, 13th October, 2017 at 4.00 p.m.

Invitation to the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Lecture

The Vice-Chancellor invites the faculty, staff and students to MAHATMA GANDHI MEMORIAL LECTURE on Thursday, October 5, 2017 in Manu Chandaria Auditorium from 2.00pm to 4.00pm in celebration of the 11th International Day of Non-Violence in Nairobi, Kenya.

The event is organized by the University of Nairobi, United Nation Office in Nairobi, Indian High Commission in Kenya and Kenya-India Friends Association (KIFA). The event will be presided over by senior Government of Kenya officials and key note speech by Ms. Rajni Bakshi, Eminent Gandhi Scholar and former Gandhi Peace Fellow at Gateway House, Mumbai, India. All are Welcome!

The International Day of Non-Violence which coincides with the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, leader of the Indian independence movement and pioneer of the philosophy and strategy of non-violence is cerebrated every 3rd October. Several dignitaries and diplomats have been invited.

Synopsis: Sonoko Fujiki, an ordinary 42-year-old housewife, lives in a multi-story apartment in Tokyo. Her daily routine consists of cooking, washing, cleaning --- nothing more, nothing less. Although she seems to have a happy family life on the surface, she often feels empty and depressed. One day, Sonoko calls a disk jockey, Kanae for advice. While on air, she asks her "Why can't I be the wife or woman I used to be now that I'm a mother?" Kanae hears the pain in Sonoko's voice and irresponsibly suggests that she run away from home.

 The next morning, her husband and her son are shocked to see on the family message board: "I am leaving home. Sorry, Sonoko."
