57th Graduation Ceremony – Friday, September 22, 2017

The University of Nairobi wishes to inform all students from the Colleges of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences (CAVS), College of Architecture and Engineering (CAE), College of Biological and Physical Sciences (CBPS), College of Education and External Studies (CEES), School of Law, School of Nursing and Department of Biochemistry (BSc Biochemistry) who have qualified for the award of various degrees and diplomas at the end of last academic year (2016/2017) and members of the public, that the 57th Graduation Ceremony will be held on Friday, September 22, 2017 commencing at 8.00 a.m. at the Chancellor’s Court next to Central Catering Unit, Main Campus.  The following is pertinent information:
 
CLEARANCE OF FEES
 
Only those who will have completed paying the fees due to the University by Friday September 8, 2017 will be allowed to graduate.
 
GRADUATION/CONVOCATION FEE
 
Each graduand must obtain a clearance certificate from the relevant College Registrar upon clearance with the respective Department/Faculty/Institute/School, Library, Halls of Residence and Games Department and pay a compulsory Graduation/Convocation fee of Kshs. 1,000/=.
 

Opening of the University: Staff and students

This is to inform all staff and students  that it has been decided by the Government that the current closure of the University be extended to September 4, 2017 when students are expected to resume classes.

The University QMS Certification Process

The University of Nairobi has received the ISO9001:2015 certification from KEBS, the Certification Body, marking a milestone for the Quality Management System (QMS).
 
The new standard provides many benefits to the University, including integration of risk based thinking into the processes, improved evidence for decision making, creating a quality culture, engagement of staff and students, improvement of customer satisfaction, and improvement in the credibility and image of the University.
 
But what does it take to get the certification?
 
The publication ofthe ISO9001:2015 Standard, in September 2015 necessitated areview of the University QMS. There was need to align the QMS with the new standard.
 
In order to carry out a comprehensive review, a QMS Review Committee was appointed by the University Executive Board (UEB). The Committee, chaired by the Deputy Management Representative, Christopher Moturi, comprised experienced Internal Quality Auditors.
 
The first phase required a clear understanding the ISO9001:2015 Standard,identification of the activities to be undertaken and the resources required,and the development of the methodology to be used.
 
The Committee reviewed many relevant documents. Key among these were the requirements of the ISO9001:2015 Standard, guidelines on how to transition to the Standard, University of Nairobi Charter, CUE University Regulations, CUE Standards and Guidelines, University Strategic Plan,Performance Contract and Service Delivery Charter.
 

Gandhi Smarak Nidhi Fund – Postgraduate Scholarship: 2017/2018 Academic Year

The Gandhi Smarak Nidhi fund will offer a limited number of partial scholarships tenable at the University of Nairobi, for Masters Programmes during the 2017/2018 academic year.
Interested candidates are invited to apply/re-apply for the scholarship through our online application portal (https://gandhi.uonbi.ac.ke) from Friday July 28, 2017.  A non-refundable application fees of Kenya Shillings Two thousand Only (KShs. 2,000.00) will be charged to be paid through MPESA services.
The MPESA payment details are:-

Applicants must have attained at least an Upper Second Class Honours or its equivalent at Bachelors Level and must upload onto the application portal a letter of offer for postgraduate studies at the University of Nairobi for a Masters programme (not PhD).
Deadline for application is Friday September 1, 2017.
