College of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences Hosts Senegalese Delegation

Regional Universities Integration: Enhancing Partnership between Senegal and Kenya through the University of Nairobi and Virginia Tech.

The College of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences (CAVS), University of Nairobi, is hosting an international delegation from Senegal together with members of USAID and Education and Research in Education (ERA) project.

The aim of the one week visit is to explore collaborative partnership opportunities with institutions in Kenya and foster the advancement of the knowledge frontiers for improvement of livelihoods.

Prof. Micere Githae Mugo Launches Book at UON

‘Do not let other people shape you. Protect your own space’ is the message she had for the many people who attended her Public Lecture and book launch at University of Nairobi.

Prof. Micere Githae Mugo launched her book in a well attended event formalized by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic Affairs, Prof. Jacob Kaimenyi, Hon. Martha Karua, Attorney General Prof. Githu Muigai, among others.

Prof. Micere is a distinguished writer, scholar and professor of literature at Syracuse University in the USA. Back in the 80s she was the Dean of the Faculty of Arts at UoN making her the first female dean in Kenya.

University Of Nairobi Students Emerge Among The Top In The Safaricom Inter-University Online Customer Care Competition

Safaricom, a Kenyan mobile service provider initiated an inter-university competition for university students pursuing journalism as their future career.

The initiative required Journalism students from the different universities to form groups of a maximum of 5 individuals and come up with a Video advert that would promote the Safaricom online customer care services. Some of the Universities participating in the competition include our very own, The University of Nairobi, Daystar University, Kenyatta University, USIU among others.

 

UoN Lecturer publishes book on M-PESA

Tonny K. Omwansa, a lecturer at the School of Computing and Informatics, University of Nairobi and Nicholas P. Sullivan a fellow at the Fletcher School in USA have published "Money, Real Quick", a book on M-PESA and MobileMoney.

The book expounds on the innovation, the execution and impact of M-PESA, the mobile money service operated in Kenya by Safaricom and is now available in several other countries, including Tanzania and South Africa.

The nine chapter book is based on an extensive field work and provides a comprehensive, easy to read broad-range narrative of a technological innovation being exported from Africa.
